This place has so much charm - it's truly like a colonial inn, with the tavern and bar tied to the inn. We arrived after 9pm on a Saturday and were immediately greeted by two employees who helped us check-in. Our reservation was supposed to …
This stay was almost exactly like my experience in York, UK. You go in through the street entrance to the cafe and check in with the friendly & accommodating staff at a desk at the back, get your traditional keys (no keycard here), go up …
This place has such potential! You cannot beat the location and the rooms could be super cute if fixed up! The linens on the bed were old and tired and the mattress was old and sagged in the middle. The heat worked well. The drapes …
This is a good place to stay if you want to be in the town for easy walking access to the downtown area. Rooms are nothing special but functional. You will hear people in adjacent rooms if that is a concern. If you register online you get a free breakfast which was quite good.
It reminded me of staying in an old-fashioned Inn in the UK! You walk in through the café, and there is a small vestibule between the bar and the café where you check in. You take your old fashioned keys & go up the creaking stairs to your room with sparse historical furniture. Including a small set of stairs to climb up on the tall bed! So the rooms are located above the old pub just like the UK. The service was excellent. Although the rooms are not equipped with coffee machines nor refrigerators, fresh coffee is available at the bottom of the stairs and a fully cooked delicious looking breakfast is also included in the full rate. I didn’t have breakfast because I was rushing off to work, but it sure did look good.
If you like being able to walk to great restaurants and bars then stay here! It's an old place but the rooms are clean. They have good live music on weekends & complimentary breakfast is good. Step out of ur comfort zone and enjoy this funky place!
If you look at the other hotels in the area, they are 2 or 3-star rated. This one is the only 4-star place in the downtown area. It's also about half the price and much cleaner. We paid $283 the night before for a run of the mill Fairfield Inn that was not well cleaned. Made the Leesburg Inn look even better.
If you want a chain hotel with a microwave and frig, this charming place is probably not for you. I don't like the corporate feel of the chains, so I was very pleased with our stay. The service and food was excellent.
As other reviewers state, there is music downtown on the weekends. But that's any downtown. We got a goodnight's sleep in a room on the backside of the building. They do have blackout drapes for the streetlights but I still used my eyeshades because the light does come in a bit.
Contrary to rumors, the inn is not haunted. It’s a bit tricky to get to the main inn. The entrance is not that obvious and you have to go up a set of stairs to get to the rooms. I was amused by the non-computerized check in system. I sensed the index card I filled in went to a roladex that holds the information of guests through the years. So nostalgic. The room we got was small but comfortable. It had a king size bed and a daybed. The bathroom was small but working perfectly. It’s an old building so expect everything to be dated. If you’re looking for hyatt or a best western experience and accommodation, this is not for you. I love the location (old historic Leesburg). Lots to see (historic buildings) and interesting shops to browse through. There was an active night life (we were there on a Friday). Breakfast is included during your stay. I recommend staying here for the history and the old town feel.
